Galatians 5: 7-15

NKJ-Vs7-You ran well.  Who hindered you from obeying the truth? Vs8 This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you.  Vs9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump.  Vs10 I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. Vs 11 And I, brethern, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution?  Then the offense of the cross has ceased.  Vs 12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!  Vs13 For you, brethern, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve on another.  Vs14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  Vs15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

I love how Paul is very careful in words not to break the spirit of these believers.  He encourages them always to remember the freedom they have in Christ, but not allowing that freedom to be miss used, and at the same time speaking harsh words and warning those who are teaching false doctrine.

Sunday’s prayer time was amazing, if words were to describe it.

“idle” I liked one of the definitions in regards to an engine- moving slowly while disconnected from a load or out of gear.  Vs 7 “you ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?  What is hindering us from obeying the truth, and is causing us to run this race disconnected or out of gear?  The answer-”Our FLESH” Pastor Aaron was warning and encouraging us not to be idle or lazy, but in a way saying “kick it into gear,” or that’s just what I’m saying to myself.  People are lost and there is not time to waste.  Paul warned and encouraged in verses 13-15.  He reminded (encouraged) them of their liberty, their freedom in christ, and to walk in the spirit showing love to one another.  He also warned them not to use their liberty for an opportunity for the flesh, and warned that if they are not showing love they can begin to mistreat each other.  And, how true it that!  When I find myself getting frustrated, angry, or assume something towards or about someone, the lord prompts me “are you connected to me? why are you acting that way?  Are you obeying me?  Then you read verse 14 “For the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You should Love your neighbor as yourself.”  You can’t produce LOVE without walking in the SPIRIT.  GOD is LOVE.

Rough Weekend

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven’t blogged for a while.  I have been reading Galatians and have some kind of typing block. (LOL)  I know what I want to say, but typing it is another issue, or I go to sleep and in the middle of sleeping the lord gives me some views on it and I say to myself, “I should really get up and write that down,” but I go back to sleep and when I wake up I draw a blank. :) Then my son Ezekiel gets really sick and my sleep gets severely deprived.  Speaking of Ezekiel, I would like to thank all of you who prayed for him.  He had been throwing up since Friday morning, and Dave and I took him to the hospital for vomiting.  The doctor said “not to worry about dehydration until he has diarrhea.”  Guess what, as we are discharged Ezekiel begins to have diarrhea.  That continued until Sunday early morning.  So anyhow.  He is doing just fine.

Galatians 5:1-6

Galatians 5:1-6  ”Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.  Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.  And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.  You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law, you have fallen from grace.  For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”Christ has made us free by fulfilling the law through his death and resurrection, which reconciled us to God.  Now, understanding that freedom should cause the spirit in us to move quickly.  Without the spirit moving through us, we try to live our lives in our flesh and  we think that it’s justified by christ.  When in reality we are reverting to the law, and like the verse says we become estranged from Christ.  Estrange- to no longer be close to or affectionate to someone.   Grace doesn’t mean what it use to mean to us and our relationship to Christ starts to get shallow.  Then we begin the cycle again, of reverting to the flesh which produces sin.Lord I pray that I would not be lazy and revert to my flesh.  Help me to get up and move quickly in your spirit, and to be constantly aware of your grace that you “gave” to me.  Lord I want to put action to the spirit that is in me.

Ouch!

Sunday’s sermon was amazing.Dave and I have been talking about this very subject days before.  You would think that having just talked about it you would then understand and learn from it.  Well that was not the case on Saturday.  I believe I was being tested and guess what? I failed and realized that I needed to learn to show love and mercy and have grace for those around me.  Then Sunday, was just the Lord continuing his lesson in my life…..  I will continue tomorrow.  It’s getting late. :)
